We See Not What Exists in Reality

How important is it for us esoteric practitioners (for example, those following the path of opening the Third Eye) to know that what we see, for instance on a monitor, is not a video but 24 images changing one after another?

I think you understand what I mean? If not, I’ll explain.

Ordinary images change very quickly on the screen—for example, showing a car moving from one corner of the screen to another.

And there is no video. There is no movement. It is merely an illusion, because all there is are 24 images.
Static images.

But our brain creates this movement from static images.

It is very important to understand that this movement exists in our brain.

Everything happens THERE.

After watching this amateur video, one can understand how amazing our brain is: it is capable of creating an entire reality out of nothing, from some flickering dots.

I tried transferring the idea about separate images to ordinary communication. A short story came to mind.

In the morning, Andrey received a message from a friend: “I’ll drop by this evening. We need to talk.” He replied, “Okay,” but immediately started trying to remember what might have happened. Had he made an unfortunate joke at the table on Sunday? Everyone seemed to laugh. Although Sasha left early afterward. And yesterday, he hadn’t replied to a photo in the group chat.

By lunchtime, these small details had already formed a coherent picture. Sasha was offended, had been silent for several days, and was now coming to settle things. At first, Andrey chose words for an apology. Then he remembered that his friend could be rather brusque himself. By evening, he had already mentally explained to him that you couldn’t expect people to be so careful with every word. He had even found the perfect phrase, after which there would be nothing left to argue about.

The doorbell rang. Sasha stood on the doorstep with a bag of apples.
- You have a folding ladder, don’t you? Can I borrow it for the weekend? I want to put up a curtain rod. I started renovating, and now everything at home is lying on the floor.

Andrey silently went to the balcony. As he pulled the ladder out from behind the boxes, he still wanted to say the prepared phrase. It had been so convincing, and he had refined it so many times during the day... It simply didn’t fit the person standing in the hallway at all. That person had never even had an argument with him.

What I find especially interesting in this imagined scene is the moment with the ladder: everything has already been cleared up, but the feeling of resentment hasn’t had time to pass. After all, so many reasons for it had accumulated during the dayFound it. If we return to the image from the thread, here too an entire “film” emerged from several disconnected frames. Only Andrey came up with the connection between them himself, and experienced it as a real event.
