"And I saw God..."
In distant times, when speech first trembled upon my lips and I could see this mortal world with my barely strengthened consciousness, I climbed the holy mountain and called out to God: "Lord, my God, I am your servant. Your will is law for me, and I shall obey you until the end of my life."
But God gave no answer—only the wind whistled dully among the bare rocks.
A thousand years later, I climbed the holy mountain again and once more called out to God: "Creator, I am your creation. You fashioned me from earth in your likeness, and I owe you everything I have."
God gave no answer—only the wind whistled dully among the bare rocks.
A thousand years later, I climbed the holy mountain and once more called out to God: "Father, I am your son. Through your mercy and love you gave birth to me, and with reverence and love I inherit your kingdom."
God gave no answer—only the wind whistled dully among the bare rocks.
Another thousand years later, I climbed the holy mountain and once more called out to God: "My God, my purpose and my life, I am your yesterday, and you are my tomorrow. I am your root in the earth, and you are my flower in the heavens; we have always been together all these thousands of years and have not been apart for a single moment of our lives".
Then God approached me with another gust of wind and whispered in my ear words that I had always known. He embraced me with His infinite presence.
And I wept, standing on the mountaintop, and everything around me shone with my realization.
And when I came down from the mountain, wherever I went—God was there too.
