Glossolalia
  • Historical and mystical roots
    – In Christian mysticism, this is called “glossolalia” — the gift of “other tongues.”
    – In shamanic traditions — “the song of the spirit of nature”.
    – In the Vedic tradition — “the siddhi of sound”.
All of them describe the same phenomenon: a sound that does not belong to the earth, but comes from within.
  • The essence of the energy
    – Such sounds carry pure vibration, bypassing the filters of the mind.
    – They act not on understanding, but on the heart, emotions, and the person’s energy center.
    – Therefore, they heal, inspire, and induce a meditative state.
  • A modern perspective
    – In an age when people have drowned in endless information noise, such singing becomes an island of silence within the noise.
    – It returns us to simplicity: to the idea that beauty can exist without words while still being filled with meaning.
🎼 Main manifestations of the siddhi of sound

  1. Mantric power (shabda-shakti)
    • It is believed that each mantra is not merely a word, but the “sound form of God.”
    • When uttered with complete concentration, it begins to create reality.
    • Yogis said: “Shabda-Brahman” — “God is sound.”
  2. A voice that changes states
    • A person with the siddhi of sound can evoke tears, joy, inspiration, or a trance in others with a single word or song.
    • This is explained by the fact that their vibrations pass not through the mind, but directly through the heart field.
  3. Glossolalia / “other tongues”
    • Yoga contains descriptions of “spontaneous singing of mantras and syllables” that do not belong to any earthly language.
    • It is akin to songs in other languages: the language is unknown, but the soul responds.
  4. Sound as healing energy
    • In “nada yoga” (the yoga of sound), it is believed that certain vibrations resonate with the chakras and can purify them.
    • The siddhis of sound can direct vibration in such a way that the body and psyche begin to harmonize.
  5. Word-creation (Vak-siddhi)
    • In tantra, this is a special power: a spoken word becomes reality.
    • Pure mind + pure sound = materialization.
    • This is also mentioned in Patanjali’s “Yoga Sutras” as a dangerous but real gift.

🌌 The mystical essence

The siddhi of sound is when your voice ceases to be your personal instrument, and becomes a flute through which the Divine Spirit plays.
That is why such songs sound like something “not of this world” — and people sense not the meaning of the words, but the meaning of the vibration.

📖 A comparison across traditions

  • Vedic India: “Vak-siddhi” (the siddhi of speech) — the ability to utter words that are fulfilled immediately.
  • Tibet: “Harmony of sound” — the practice of special mantras in which vibration changes reality.
  • Christianity: “The gift of other tongues” — the voice of the Spirit singing through a person.
  • Shamanism: “The song of the spirits of nature” — when the shaman does not compose the melody, but “it is sung through them.”

A very interesting topic. I haven't read all the posts here yet, but I also want to share my experience.
When I was little, up until the age of 8 or 9, I loved singing, but I didn't know the words to any songs and sang all kinds of nonsense 😊
I liked how beautiful my voice sounded; I liked the flow and interweaving of the sounds. Nothing else mattered, and I never thought about the meaning. I always sang alone because I was embarrassed to sing in front of others. Then my brother and a friend of his played a joke on me... He asked me to sing in an empty room and said that I sang beautifully... But he recorded it on a voice recorder and let our grandfather listen to it... Then he laughed at me... I have never sung since.

71999 71999 , you know, it is very wrong when someone trips up a person whose gift naturally comes from within. I will be 52 in just a few days, and I still cannot let go of the fact that I was trampled into the dirt and did not have the strength to withstand the pressure from outside.
I thought I had already forgiven them and let it go with time, but almost three months ago I was in the hospital and got talking to an elderly woman there. Somehow, it happened that I started singing a song (after surgery 🤣), and she said that I had a very beautiful voice and that it sounded very heartfelt. Not expecting this from myself, I simply began to cry very hard. I wasn't wailing; tears were just streaming down my face, and then I realized that no, I hadn't let it go—I was still in a lot of pain. We come into this world with our own gifts, but how cruelly things sometimes happen. Someone simply decides that they can take this gift away from us, and we simply cannot find the strength within ourselves to cope with it. I think I simply failed to fulfill the task I was supposed to complete, and now I wonder: how will I look myself in the eyes afterward, and what will I say?

Namaste everyone! Namaste OM Shanti!☀

I’m sorry that I still haven’t written here about the Joy and the Miracle
that happen to me during Prayer in Tongues, although I was asked to.

For now, I’ll simply write about how today’s Prayer went.

I entered the practice in a heavy, oppressive state (the death of the old and the birth of the new...).
After addressing Him, I become aware that I am not alone; it feels like care and love, and I receive the knowledge
that I am being heard and that I am safe. I feel a pleasant, firm, expanding pressure in my sternum.
The cleansing process begins. From the heart center, expansion moves to the navel and throat centers,
and pressure grows in my head and limbs. My body tenses extremely strongly.
It is as though all my sorrow is being pushed out of me. I cry (it is impossible not to cry)—the joy of release.
I breathe. Then the pressure subsides. Everything calms down.
I hear a line from Sergei Vasilyevich’s poem: “the spark of light lives in all of us.”
It comes from the heart center.
(The poem is called “Singing Heavens.” I will definitely write it out in full below.)
I also feel energy rising from the heart center to the throat chakra.
A very pleasant sensation arises in my throat. A sound wants to come out.
At first it came out quietly, sounding like humming and mumbling; then the sound “A” appeared,
louder and louder, with different timbres, and at the same time the area of my heart began to ache slightly (not for long).
Next, the sound became softer and the sound “O” was added, then “U.” I feel my chakras opening,
and the tension leaving them. Then the sound “M.” My whole body and head relax. After that, the sounds fall silent. Silence.
My body sways slightly. Very pleasant sensations in my sternum, in the area between my eyebrows,
and then in the area of the third eye.
I am being listened to. I address the Holy Spirit and then sit motionless, barely breathing,
listening to the blessed silence.
I feel waves and increasing pressure on the crown of my head.
I continue observing how my state changes here and now.
Gradually, everything grows quiet.
I give thanks.
A chill runs through my body.
I feel much better!
I know it will be even more wonderful when I write down everything
that I experienced in this Prayer (I promised)🌈🙏

P.S.: All my previous Prayers in Tongues were similar in that cleansing took place first.
And during my very first practice, sounds came together into, and clearly repeated, “Iyengar” (referring to yoga and this person’s path).
There were also amusing moments—for example, when my name formed from the sounds and was then repeated in full. This filled me with delight (I don’t know why, but it was fun). I truly felt that we were rejoicing together like children😊👐 (at that time, the most incredible events in my life connected with the manifestation of the Higher Self were taking place).
The amount of time spent in Prayer is always different. Today, about 40 minutes.

Singing Heavens

I listen to the night... And the night sings in verse.
And every atom rings with truth.
And someone eternal walks among us.
And his music sounds within our souls.

And everything comes to pass, and everything is blessed.
Even the final breath is predetermined.
Life gradually leaves the body.
And only the spirit will be resurrected through death.

But there is no death. Nor is there life.
There is only what lies between them.
And we have always, always, always been one.
And we are only light, primordial light.

There is only One. The Unified. The Great.
And within it, we are all like rose petals.
And we all fly like moths at night,
Toward an infinite, sacred flame.

We die and are born again.
To realize that our essence is immortal.
That our strength is infinite and immeasurable.
And that it cannot be taken from us.

We are sleeping now. And dreams replace dreams.
We dream of images both good and evil.
We walk the earth, unhappy and ill.
And are afflicted by eternal, embittered longing.

But the spark of light lives in all of us.
And we hear it when everything falls silent.
Then the soul sings within the chest.
And the music of the heavens plays so sweetly!

And evil departs. Peace takes its place.
And goodness alone fills the place of lies.
And the music of the heavens shines in consciousness,
Touching the heart with a gentle hand.
