Today I decided to conduct a strange experiment.
Simply to catch the moments when I start turning something over in my head—and stop that dialogue.

Something like: — caught a thought — noticed it — let it go — returned to the sensations in my body.

At first, it turned out to be almost impossible—the stream of thoughts switched on every 10–20 seconds: plans, judgments, memories…
But then something strange happened: short “gaps” suddenly began to form between the thoughts.
And during these pauses, my breathing became calmer, and my body relaxed..

I didn’t manage to completely “reset” the dialogue by the end of the day—of course not.
But there were noticeably fewer thoughts, a calm focus appeared, and the feeling of an inner race disappeared.
The most unexpected thing was that it became easier simply to be, without explaining every second of what was happening to myself.

Now I’m thinking: perhaps silence is not a special state, but our natural background, which we simply rarely notice.

A question for you: have you ever tried living through a day with minimal inner dialogue?
Did you manage to catch such “pauses between thoughts”?
It would be interesting to hear about your firsthand experience—not theory, but how it happens for you.

✨I enjoyed stopping the dialogue during the practice “Liberation from the Matrix” by Sergey Veretennikov.. When I practice it, my thoughts stop on their own, freezing, and I stop thinking about anything at all.. I recommend that you purchase it too if you don’t have it yet. 🙏 ✨

Namaste! I used to try stopping the dialogue. I had some success, but of course not for the whole day. Japa and audio meditations help me a lot. Sometimes the stream of thoughts doesn’t stop but is replaced by another one. Today I’m doing housework, while the Fourth Prayer in Other Languages is playing in my head. I haven’t practiced this in a long time. Thank you,337, for reminding me. I’ll try again. I also need concentration during puja. So, for a while, unnecessary thoughts switch off.

Difficult. I can’t do it. Only when I’m asleep. :cautious:

It’s very difficult to switch off the inner dialogue. Situations involving problems or conflicts keep coming back, and you turn them over in your mind again and again. Just like an automatic replay. But what I’ve noticed lately is that I can drive them away or push them out of my mind. That wasn’t the case before. Now I understand that it’s simply going round in circles. And I tell myself: not now, or you’re not getting my energy! What helps me? I play audio from the Your Yoga website. I give my brain something to do: listen.

The topic is good and useful; thank you for the advice from the previous participants. 🙏💖

I also find it difficult to stop that annoying prompter that distracts me every second. It tries very hard😆
When I manage to drive it away for a long time, a second annoying personality switches on—the “movie-maker.” It shows me all my mistakes from my entire life. In the most vivid colors!
If I lose, the prompter comes back. If I win, there will be another layer after a temporary silence. I still can’t get through level 3; I fall asleep beforehand😊 (if I do it before bed). In general, I know there are many layers, and that answers can be found there. In complete silence and darkness, your question lights up for just a second (it’s hard to describe a second that lasts forever and at the same time happened so long ago), and you receive an answer.
In an image (that’s how it came to me personally), and in my image there was everything: the feelings, the situations hidden behind each figure, and understanding... And there was no anger, resentment, or anything else... Only acceptance afterward—and, as a result, peace of mind.
And behind each figure stands an unimaginable number of situations, words, actions, and circumstances! After seeing all this, you just want to feel sorry for each one and help them🙏💖

It happened to me once.

I read your replies and noticed one common detail.
Almost everyone writes not so much about thoughts as about the feeling of inner haste.

As if for most of our lives we don’t think—we run inside our own heads.
And when the dialogue quiets down a little, a strange feeling appears—as though the world becomes wider.

Today I managed to catch a couple of pauses like that during the day.
A few seconds of complete silence, when you don’t need to analyze anything—just look and feel.
In those moments there is no emptiness inside; on the contrary, there is an unusual sense of fullness.

I caught myself thinking that silence doesn’t feel like the “absence of something.”
It feels more like the presence of oneself without commentary.

It made me curious:
for some people, is silence more like peace, while for others it is more like slight anxiety?
And what do you feel in it—emptiness or fullness?
