Why might a payment through Lava.top fail?
- VPN is enabled.
You must disable the VPN before making a payment. Lava explicitly lists this as one of the reasons for declining both ruble and foreign-currency payments. - Roubles were selected for a foreign card.
If the card was issued by a non-Russian bank, you need to select € or $. Direct payment is accepted with foreign Visa and MasterCard cards. However, if the card is, for example, Kazakhstani and the account is in tenge, you can select € or $. The bank will automatically convert tenge if currency conversion is enabled. The same applies to pounds, francs, and other foreign currencies. The bank may charge a conversion fee. Russian bank card → choose ₽. Foreign bank card → choose $ or €. - The bank’s confirmation code, SMS, or similar does not arrive. Choose another confirmation method. This depends on the payment option you selected. The confirmation method is set by the bank, so it may differ between banks. For example, you usually receive a code by SMS, but the SMS does not arrive. Then open your banking app—there may already be a “Confirm purchase” notification there. Some banks allow you to confirm the payment directly in the app, via a push notification, fingerprint, Face ID, or your phone’s PIN code.
- The card is foreign, but is not Visa/MasterCard.
For direct payment by foreign card, Lava specifies Visa and MasterCard. For example, American Express or Maestro should be used through PayPal, rather than by entering the card details normally. - If a foreign card is declined, try another foreign Visa/Mastercard, PayPal, or Apple Pay, if these methods are available in your country and for your card. Lava supports PayPal and Apple Pay for foreign-currency payments; Apple Pay on Lava works only on compatible devices/browsers.
