Here the curtain fell, and a golden lightning zigzag sparkled across it.
Papa Carlo, Malvina, and Pierrot could not recover from their amazement. Buratino, with his hands in his pockets and his nose held high, said boastfully:
– What—did you see? So it wasn’t for nothing that I got soaked in Aunt Tortila’s swamp… In this theater we’ll stage a comedy—you know which one? “The Golden Key, or the Extraordinary Adventures of Buratino and His Friends.” Karabas Barabas will burst with spite.
Pierrot rubbed his wrinkled forehead with his fists:
– I’ll write this comedy in magnificent verse.
– I’ll sell ice cream and tickets, – said Malvina. – If you find that I have talent, I’ll try playing the roles of pretty girls…
– Wait, children, but when will you study? – Papa Carlo asked.
Everyone answered at once:
– We’ll study in the morning… And perform in the theater in the evening…
