The Stereo Effect in Everyday Use

While working with stereo programs, I remembered that I had looked at my own keyboard with unfocused eyes and seen it in stereo. The keys dropped about 10 centimeters below the level of the keyboard—the distance depended on the height of my gaze. So I tried again, and got the same effect. On different laptops, too. I thought of taking a photo of the keyboard and looking at that as well. Surprisingly, the stereo effect appears in the photo too.

This is a photo of my laptop keyboard. A stereo image appears immediately when you look at it unfocused. The topmost row of function keys is closer, while the other keys are farther away.
I am very interested to know whether anyone else has observed this effect. Please write and let me know.

Then my gaze fell on my blouse—astonishing! A stereo image with polka dots, and the dots appear at different levels, from about 2 to 20 cm, as I see it. A perfectly clear stereo panorama. And the same thing happens with the photo.

I can clearly see this effect in the second photo. Perhaps it arises because the dots have different shades and levels of illumination, making them seem to be at different distances from the viewer, while the blouse fabric itself resembles a starry sky.

, I found the stereo effect in the polka-dot image clearly on the third attempt. It is less apparent in the keyboard.
Perhaps the cause of the phenomenon in both cases is the contrast between light and dark.

Or perhaps it is something else?

Yes, I see it, both in these photos and in others.
It is not about the object itself, but about looking with the third eye—that is, looking through the ajna. You can look at walls this way, at the tiles in the bathroom, at anything at all, and see it in stereo.

Yes, I see the stereo effect too. It is especially clear in the photo of the polka-dot fabric. The dots, regardless of their color, are at different distances. It is very clearly visible. And the Amber Room as well. (Perhaps because I used to practice viewing stereo images quite often.)

Stereo image of Mars.

I see the stereo image in front of the photo itself, at a distance of approximately 20–25 cm. In terms of size, it is almost half the size of Mars in the photo. But I did not discover this stereo image myself; it is from an astronomy website, and, as written there, " Fun: Click here and cross your eyes to merge the two images into a 3D Mars".

When viewing Mars with the stereo effect, I see three Marses of approximately the same size, and the middle one appears the most three-dimensional.

This middle one is apparently located deeper than the ones on the sides?
Actually, I observed two types of stereo images: when the image is located deeper than the original pictures, and when it is located between me and the originals, somewhere in the middle. In the first case, the image becomes larger; in the second, it becomes smaller.

I think the two outer images are seen by the left and right eyes, while the middle image is observed by the ajna chakra (the third eye), and with it one can view things from different angles: zoom out, zoom in, raise or lower the image. I think it may be possible to view it from the reverse side, but I cannot see it that way yet.

The eye has an amazing ability—to look and see. When I "enter" an image, it comes alive, and if I move my head to the right or left, the image seems to follow me. Any object becomes animate. And the photo with the keyboard is a real find. You can practice seeing at any time when you have a computer at hand.

Stereo image of Jupiter.

NASA has published images of Jupiter taken by the Juno spacecraft in 3D format for the first time.

Jupiter on the left was photographed in infrared; on the right, in visible light.

I suggest looking at the right part of the image with a "stereo gaze"—depth appears, and the clouds can be seen at different levels relative to one another.
