A garland can offer you a wonderful spiritual lesson. One thread harmoniously binds all these flowers, so different from one another, together. In Sanskrit, it is called sutra (a connecting thread). In the same way, there is also the Brahma Sutra, the universal “principle of Brahman,” which permeates all jivis (individual souls) and connects them all through an Atmic bond. Since you are all embodiments of the Divine Atman, you should not fear the sorrows and losses that may meet you on your path. An orange is covered with a bitter peel. You should remove this peel, which protects the fruit, and eat the sweet fruit itself. This sweet fruit (that is, your life) is enveloped in the bitter peel of lust, anger, greed, arrogance, attachment, and envy. Peel it away and discard it so that you may taste the sweetness of the fruit.

It is difficult—no, almost impossible—to turn the lens in the direction indicated to us by saints and seers, for the mind is rightly described as a monkey! Indeed, it is even more wayward than a monkey: in the blink of an eye, it leaps from one place to another, separated by countless miles in space and centuries in time! The mind jumps from one desire to another and draws us into its turmoil. Reduce your desires, banish the ego, eliminate anger, and the mind will become your servant instead of your master. Love is the master key that can open the door leading to this.

I fill the entire created World: the animate and the inanimate. I hold the threads of the Divine Plan in My Hands.

Nothing can harm the one who directs their attention toward Me—but whoever forgets Me will be surrounded and overwhelmed by Maya.

Sai Baba’s Good News.

Is your health not good enough?
But you must look at everything as a challenge.
There is a reason for everything.
Fulfillment is near, and you do not need perfect health to attain the fulfillment that is the purpose of your present life.
I am always present, always with you—I watch as you struggle to reconcile yourself with life.
But there is already a way out—a new auspicious opportunity for inner awakening is opening up.
Seek this awakening and salvation within yourself.
Life is not what you see it as.
Life is God.
There is neither good nor bad—only God.
Look at your life as an expression of God Himself—an aspect of Divinity.
Peace, peace and understanding will come.
Be patient and remember that life is eternity.
Ripples on the water, even a storm, often herald calm.
Look at all your troubles and worries as ripples: temporary agitation on the surface, while beneath it lies perfection—a beautiful, tranquil lake filled with peace, silence and stillness, filled with Divinity.
This is your true “Self,” your inner essence, the abode of the Divine.
Keep your mind focused on these thoughts, and the pattern of your life will change
and peace will come.

YOU MUST PERFORM YOUR DUTY... YOUR WORLDLY DUTIES”

Body consciousness should be maintained only for the performance of your duties.
You must perform your duty.
Duty is God.
You should not maintain inappropriate worldly relationships. But your desires multiply, and you become increasingly greedy. You must reduce the baggage of your desires. You may accumulate any amount of baggage, but it will not be eternal...
Whatever we accumulate, we will have to leave empty-handed. If we reflect deeply, all worldly possessions are of no use. Then why should we worry about all these useless things?
Perform your duty, making the best use of the present moment; you should not worry needlessly about what awaits you in the future...
Nothing in this world is permanent. Nevertheless, we must do what ought to be done. When you feel cold, you put on a shawl. As soon as it starts to get warm, you take off the shawl. Similarly, you put on the attire of the human body and nourish it in order to perform your worldly duties.

What is sattvic food (food that brings peace and vital energy)? The prevailing view is that sattvic food consists of fruit, milk, and so on. But that is not all. The food consumed by a person is not limited to what enters the body through the mouth. Other organs of the human body, such as the eyes, ears, nose, and hands, are also engaged in “consuming” food from the outside world. Therefore, consuming only fruit and milk does not entitle you to consider yourself to be taking sattvic food until the rest of the food assimilated through your other sense organs is also sattvic in nature.

Direct your gaze only toward what is good. If you use your eyesight indiscriminately on everything that comes before your eyes, it will lead to disaster. The ability to see should be used exclusively for good and sacred purposes.
The ears also need “pure” food. This means that you should listen only to what is pure and holy, to accounts speaking of the Divine and the exalted. Let us always listen only to good and pleasant things about others. In this way, we can protect our ears from defilement and contamination and ensure that they receive sattvic “food.”

Through the nose, one should inhale only pleasant scents filled with freshness and fragrance. Inhaling foul-smelling substances can lead to illness. If you notice an unpleasant smell when inhaling, it means that you are inhaling disease-causing microorganisms. It is very important for a person to breathe clean air in open and clean spaces.
The hands, too, should be used for consuming pure “food.” In other words, the hands should become instruments for performing actions aimed at doing good, in complete harmony with the body’s higher purpose as a temple of Divinity.

HAPPINESS AND PEACE OF MIND

If a person is selfish and arrogant, no one will love him, not even his own wife and children, although they may pretend to love him.
As long as a person is controlled by anger, troubles and sorrows will pursue him.
One who is obsessed with desires will achieve nothing and will remain forever dissatisfied.
A greedy person will never know happiness.
Thus, anger, desires and greed are the main causes of the absence of peace of mind.
A person believes that happiness and peace of mind are the result of spiritual practice, but in reality this is not so.
The mind is the primary cause of both happiness and sorrow. So discipline your mind.
A pacified mind will enable you to develop equanimity...
As soon as you take control of your mind, you will begin to grow spiritually, freed from the influence of the dual pair “joy—sorrow.” Welcome sorrow as you welcome happiness.
In fact, happiness arising from pleasure is utterly insignificant compared with the happiness that comes after overcoming difficulties...

“​​Happiness lies in union with God.” And this is true happiness. You cannot claim happiness by striving for earthly comfort...

A person can become happy only when he turns his vision inward. Only closeness to God can grant him happiness. He cannot obtain it anywhere else; neither a person nor an object can give it to him. Expecting another person to make you happy is a sign of ignorance.

The example of adults, the lessons they receive from their parents, the company they keep, and the upbringing they receive at school and in society turn their hearts to stone. Keep your hearts tender. Share the sorrows and joys of others. Do not be jealous when others are happier or receive greater recognition and rewards. Follow their example of hard work, pray for an increase in intelligence or an improvement in memory, but never give jealousy and malice a place in your heart. Jealousy is a deadly poison; it can poison your character, destroy your heart, and steal your health. Like a pest that destroys seedlings, jealousy stealthily enters you and spreads quickly, exerting a destructive influence. Therefore, even in insignificant matters, be vigilant so as not to become a victim of jealousy. Be immune to jealousy (anasuya), and you will be able to bring joy to God.

People must perform various actions (karmas) from the moment they wake until the moment they sleep—that is, in fact, from birth to death. They cannot sit still without performing actions. No one can escape this predicament! But everyone should clearly understand which kind of karmic activity they should pursue. There are only two kinds of actions: 1) sensory, or binding, actions, that is, vishaya karmas; and 2) liberating actions, known as shreyo karmas. Because vishaya karmas have now multiplied beyond measure, sorrow and disorder have increased in the world. Binding actions do not bring happiness or peace of mind. On the other hand, liberating actions bring ever-increasing joy and goodness. They grant the soul bliss, or atmananda, and have nothing to do merely with external pleasure. Although actions may be external, they are nevertheless directed inward. This is the right path, the true path!
