This is a wonderful way to meditate to this mantra.
The mantra is chanted in the ancient Vedic tradition, having a beneficial effect on consciousness.
In other words, even simply listening to it beneficially affects the nervous system.
This is not just some kind of singing; the singing itself follows an ancient tradition, and it takes many years to learn this particular style of chanting.

kātyāyani mahāmāyē khaḍgabāṇadhanurdharē |
khaḍgadhāriṇi caṇḍi durgādēvi namō:’stu tē || 1 ||
vasudēvasutē kāli vāsudēvasahōdarī |
vasundharāśriyē nandē durgādēvi namō:’stu tē || 2 ||
yōganidrē mahānidrē yōgamāyē mahēśvarī |
yōgasiddhikarī śuddhē durgādēvi namō:’stu tē || 3 ||
śaṅkhacakragadāpāṇē śārṅgajyāyatabāhavē |
pītāmbaradharē dhanyē durgādēvi namō:’stu tē || 4 ||
r̥gyajussāmātharvāṇaścatussāmantalōkinī |

aṣṭabāhu mahāsattvē aṣṭamī navamī priyē |

durgāṣṭakamidaṁ puṇyaṁ bhaktitō yaḥ paṭhēnnaraḥ |
sarvakāmamavāpnōti durgālōkaṁ sa gacchati || 9||
Translation:
O Katyayani, you hold swords, arrows, and a bow.
O goddess Chandi, who holds a sword, O goddess Durga, I respectfully bow before you. 1 ॥
Kali, daughter of Vasudeva, sister of Vasudeva.
O goddess Nanda Durga, I offer my obeisance to you. 2 ॥
O Yoga Nidra, great sleep, Yoga Maya, O Maheshvari.
Obeisance to you, O pure goddess Durga, who grants every perfection in yoga. 3 ॥
In your hands are a conch, a discus, and a mace, as well as a sharp sword.
O blessed goddess Durga in yellow garments, I offer my obeisance to you. 4 ॥
The Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva Vedas.
O Brahmani, O Durga Devi, I offer my obeisance to you. 5 ॥
O sister of Lord Vishnu, born in the Vrishni family.
O blessed Durga Devi, who has assumed the form of Vrishni, I offer my obeisance to you. 6 ॥
O omniscient one, all-pervading one.
O Durga Devi, with hair disheveled by dancing and filled with nectar, I offer my obeisance to you. 7 ॥
Eight-armed, great being.
O auspicious Durga Devi, whose laughter terrifies the demons, I respectfully bow before you. 8 ॥
Whoever recites or listens to this sacred Durga Ashtakam with devotion—
attains all their desires and reaches Durga's world. 9 ॥

कात्यायनि महामाये खड्गबाणधनुर्धरे ।
खड्गधारिणि चण्डि श्री दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ 1 ॥
वसुदेवसुते काळि वासुदेवसहोदरि।
वसुन्धरश्रिये नन्दे दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥ 2 ॥
योगनिद्रे महानिद्रे योगमाये महेश्वरि।
योगसिद्धिकरी शुद्धे दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ 3॥
शंखचक्रगदापाणे शार्ङ्गज्यायतबाहवे।
पीतांबरधरे धन्ये दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥ 4 ॥
ऋग्यजुस्सामाथर्वाणश्चतुस्सामन्तलोकिनि।
ब्रह्मस्वरूपिणि ब्राह्मि दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥ 5 ॥
वृष्णीनां कुलसंभूते विष्णुनाथसहोदरि।
वृष्णिरूपधरे धन्ये दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥ 6 ॥
सर्वज्ञे सर्वगे शर्वे सर्वेशे सर्वसाक्षिणि।
सर्वामृतजटाभारे दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥ 7 ॥
अष्टबाहु महासत्त्वे अष्टमी नवमि प्रिये।
अट्टहासप्रिये भद्रे दुर्गादेवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ 8 ॥
