Is MSM really necessary?
MSM – "
methylsulfonylmethane" – is actually nothing more than nutritional or organic sulfur, which is not produced in the human body. It is found in the ocean and comes from there. It falls with rainwater and remains on fresh grass, and you have probably noticed that dogs chew grass and suck on it. Cats nibble on houseplants. Freshly squeezed grass juice improves people's condition. All of this is MSM. Old leaves lose much of it through evaporation: when the water evaporates, the MSM disappears. When dogs lose their fur and scratch themselves until they bleed, it is not a flea allergy; it is a lack of MSM. When you see people with reddened, roughened, itchy skin, it is a lack of MSM. Birds in cages that eat dry seed and cannot reach fresh leaves begin plucking out their feathers to relieve the itching, and when they are left completely featherless, they suffer especially badly because they have no other way to fight the itch. But when they are free, they do not pluck out their feathers! Only caged birds do.
The correct MSM formula
Various vitamins and supplements do not contain MSM. It is the third-largest component of the organisms of all living beings; everything is made of water, salt, and organic sulfur, which is called sulfonyl. People working with vitamins searched for chemical sulfur, but because there is very little of it in our food chain, they did not know how important it was. They found many sulfamides. You can cauterize a wound with a sulfamide, but if you add it to cornflakes, not a single creature would eat them… except humans. Sulfates are added to meat products. We develop allergies to sulfates, sulfites, and sulfamides – these are all chemical sulfur compounds.
Sulfonyl is organic sulfur, and its reactions differ from those of chemical sulfur as much as gold differs from tin. This compound is highly volatile. Its discovery is connected with the production of paper pulp. If you have ever been where paper pulp is produced – the material from which paper is made – you know that you can smell the place from several kilometers away. The substance responsible is called dimethol, and it is released from the paper pulp. When it combines with organic sulfur, it keeps it from evaporating.
Pulp waste was used improperly until we gave the substance to Doctors Jacobs and Herschler at the Health Research University in Portland, Oregon, and asked, “What is this?” They said, “It is DMSO – dimethyl sulfoxide.” One drop and you feel wonderful, but you smell as if you died an unknown amount of time ago; you have only just entered the lobby, but everyone can already tell that you are there. In other words, this stuff was, well… not very socially acceptable.
So they began working on separating the sulfur from the strongly smelling component, and eventually discovered that it could be oxidized and that, when oxidized, it separated and crystallized. When it crystallized, it returned to its original natural form. It became stable, so that we could eat, store, and use it. Thus it became food and could be added to the diet, except that whenever you wash, boil, steam, dry, pasteurize, and so on your food, it still disappears.
Now think for a moment: when the first settlers arrived here, they did not have pharmacies nearby, yet they lived reasonably well. Now, how many of your friends could go a week without eating something from a pharmacy? Some of us are vegetarians, some are meat-eaters, some rely heavily on potatoes, but all of us, in one way or another, get sick. So what do we all have in common? Where are we all missing the point?
Well, MSM is your flexible link between proteins. When an old cell dies and a new one appears, it grows but becomes rigid. In the skin, this bends the surface, and it can no longer be smoothed out. Wrinkles, cracked skin, scars, and emphysema – all of these are caused by a lack of MSM.
MSM and Vitamin C
Now I will say a little about
vitamin C, since every time you create a new molecule of flesh, you break down a molecule of vitamin C to do so. When there is a great deal of breakdown in your body, you need a lot of vitamin C to rebuild new tissues. If you are deficient, new tissues are built thin; if you have a limited number of bricks, you can build a low, thick wall or a high, thin one. To build properly, you need to go and get more bricks. Soon, if you have a serious vitamin C deficiency, you will develop scurvy. You remember it from school? Your tissues become so weak that the slightest thing makes you bleed to death. That is why sailors sucked lemons, and were called limeys. A stroke, heart attack, varicose veins, and nosebleeds are all related conditions. Weak veins are the common denominator. If one bursts in your head, it is a stroke; if one bursts in your chest, it is a heart attack.
If you cut out part of a vein in your leg and transplant it into your chest, the difference is small, because if one is weak, the other is too; it is only a matter of time unless the body starts building them strong and thick. If we add vitamin C, the walls become strong and thick, but without MSM as the connective link, they will be rough and “leathery.” Nutrients will not pass through them, and toxins will not be eliminated. A rigid surface prevents what is called osmosis: water cannot pass through the vessel walls into and out of the vessels. A person also loses the elasticity of the vessels, and this is called hardening of the arteries. They stretch and cannot contract, resulting in a varicose network.
MSM and smoking
Let me say something about emphysema. Smoking does not cause emphysema. It occurs in horses and dogs, and they never smoke. Smoking merely creates that impression, because hot gas burns the lung tissue when you smoke day after day. You kill a huge number of cells. If you are deficient in vitamin C, the lung walls become thin and weak. Without MSM, they lose their elasticity and tear when stretched. The body has to build up keloid tissue. Sometimes you cut yourself, everything heals, and no mark remains. Another time you cut yourself and a horrible scar appears, called a keloid scar. This depends on the amount of vitamin C and MSM.
If you do not have enough vitamin C and MSM and the damage is fairly extensive, everything will grow together with something else. But give it time, and if you have enough MSM and C, the scar will dissolve and disappear. If you have only just enough to survive, the scar remains to hold everything together. And I have an excellent example of this:
In 1980 I was in a car accident when, at night in the rain, I drove a minibus into a road-maintenance truck that was standing without lights or warning signs. When I saw it, it was already too close; I noticed a cable running along one side, and workers on the other. I did not want to swerve either way and kept braking, but because of the layer of water on the asphalt, I did not manage to stop in time. The minibus frame went under the truck, and my engine caught fire. Everything instantly became red-hot, and I began to burn. I was trapped, and for the next twenty minutes I grabbed anything I could and tried to shield myself from the heat. But from here to here, everything was burned down to the bone.
For six months they stitched me back together. My knee… they managed to save my leg, but the knee was burned away completely. They grafted skin onto me, wrapping it around the knee, and it looked like a water pipe wrapped in paper. I was purple; my skin looked tanned and hardly stretched at all. You know, when someone burns their neck, they later have difficulty turning their head. Altogether, I had 20 meters of stitches, marked by rows of little dots.
Thirteen years ago my friend said, “Try this white powder – if it doesn’t help, it doesn’t help, and don’t be afraid, you won’t get hooked on it – it isn’t a drug.” Three days later I took part in a forced march. (I haven’t mentioned it, but I am a command sergeant in the regular defense forces.) I am now 62, and I can walk with my children; not all of them can keep up with me. Last summer my son took me skydiving, and at an altitude of 2,000 meters I looked down and said, “It shouldn’t hurt,” and you know what? It didn’t hurt! For 17 years now I have been saying that even if I had to lie there for another six months and no one came to walk me around or feed me with a spoon, I would still get through it.
So my pain went away, but there was a major problem with my wrist, which was resolved with the help of a lotion. When you eat MSM, it goes to the stomach, and the body directs it wherever it is most needed, while a lotion makes it possible to concentrate the effect in a specific area. In short, after two weeks the problem had disappeared.
Then I began thinking: “Hey, the burned part of me is so short of blood vessels that the skin is barely alive.” So I covered it all with lotion overnight. When it penetrates the skin and encounters vitamin C, it begins building new tissue, new collagen. The area filled in, and with all these new blood vessels I went from purple to pink, while the 20 meters of stitches contracted to 3 centimeters right here, and this is barely noticeable. I am becoming almost handsome. The difference between these areas is still visible, but to the touch there is no difference anymore.
The skin they grafted onto my leg was taken from my chest, so no hair grows here and its texture differs from the rest. See? But as I take MSM, it gets better and better every week. At first it progressed very slowly because there were not enough blood vessels for healing, but then they began to grow, and things proceeded faster, faster, and faster.
The lung tissues also become leathery, which is why insufficient oxygen passes through them. This is true emphysema.
The only thing Mr. Booth could do before he began gasping for breath was cross the room to turn off the television. He always had an inhaler, a nebulizer, and an oxygen cylinder ready. He was 72 years old. Three months after he began taking MSM, I asked him to join my reserve unit as a sergeant so he would have something to do and could think about something else. Six months later he took part in a forced march with us. A year later he became very active; he now works in sports-goods delivery and part-time as a security guard, and no longer has time to play our games with us.
The first thing that happened to him was that he began getting more oxygen through the pulmonary alveoli, and relief came very quickly. After about a week he could already walk a mile and return. But actually, it should take at least two years for old cells to die and new ones to grow, so that complete replacement can occur. You need to take enough MSM so that when an old cell dies, a new, healthy, fully developed cell forms in its place.
If you take it irregularly, some new cells will be good and some bad, and the change will not be stable. That is why a person must continue taking it for a sufficiently long period.
MSM for intestinal problems
Diverticulosis is when the intestine loses flexibility, contracts poorly, fails to move food properly, and becomes leathery. Its walls begin to pass nutrients poorly; fecal matter slows down, becomes dry, turns into fecal stones, and settles in pockets in the intestine. Attempts are made to remove them by breaking them up mechanically to clear the intestine. But you take MSM, and it creates a Teflon-like coating in the intestine, so fecal stones cannot stick to it. MSM restores flexibility to the intestine; it begins to contract well, becomes permeable, and the body receives more nutrients through the intestinal walls. Thus, diverticulosis is simply another symptom of a deficiency of MSM and vitamin C. If you start taking MSM and vitamin C, the problem resolves automatically.
All these problems are mainly a lack of vitamin C and MSM. Have you ever heard of people's big toe starting to hurt when the weather changes?
MSM for chronic pain
Here a man is asking about pain problems. There are a lot of big words here: rupioid, osteochondrosis, bursitis, hypoplasia – but what they have in common is pain. All right, your cell is a bubble of water. When external pressure falls and the cell membrane is rigid and leathery, what does the internal pressure do? It stretches it; it begins to swell, and this is called inflammation. There is practically nothing like that in bones; almost all pain comes from soft tissues.
MSM does not switch off the nerves like aspirin, for example; it makes the cell permeable, allowing water to pass freely through the cell walls, carrying away toxins and bringing in nutrients, and this is healing.
Likewise, lactic acid released from a muscle when you play baseball or unload half a ton of flour in sacks does not leave; it crystallizes and works like sandpaper, and the muscles hurt for a couple of days.
When you have enough MSM in your body, lactic acid is simply eliminated, and your muscles will never hurt from exertion. That is why I can work longer than my children; none of them can keep up with me.
You see, dogs and other animals work the same way; their bodies and metabolism function exactly the same. They get
candidiasis, various pains, hypoplasia, and arthritis, and they develop cataracts.
A dog that could not stand on its legs because of arthritis and hypoplasia was already able to go down and run up the stairs after four days. A friend of mine had a German shepherd that he had planned to put down four years earlier because it could barely move due to hypoplasia. They began giving it MSM and vitamin C, and a year ago his club held races; his dog came first in three out of four races. It is still too early to put it down.
MSM and alcohol
So, the body heals itself. MSM makes the cell so permeable that it deals with a
hangover in 20 minutes. Alcohol is trapped in the cell, and the cell dies from oxygen deprivation; that hangover is dying cells. MSM throws out the alcohol and brings in oxygen in an instant, so far fewer cells die. People who take two or three teaspoons of MSM a day have told me that if they happen to drink, it is as if they are simply wasting the product. I do not drink and have to rely on their word. But alcohol simply does not remain in the blood long enough to kill so many cells.
MSM and amino acids
So,
amino acids: methionine, cystine, lysine, and the rest – they are all sulfur-linked, and without sulfur they are incomplete. These are the building blocks of the body; they build glands that secrete hormones and enzymes, which in turn control chemical processes in the body.
MSM for women's health
Women do not experience headaches, aches, or fever during their cycle if they have enough MSM in their bodies. This is because their glands function properly, and they enter and leave the cycle smoothly, without causing shock or disrupting the entire metabolism and producing these symptoms. Dr. Joanna Craine of Santa Monica suffered from weekly migraines for 30 years. She barely had time to recover between them. Over the past nine months, however, she has had a headache only once, and even that was so mild that she simply ignored it.
MSM for diabetes
Diabetics who have been taking injections for five to seven years usually begin regulating their blood sugar through their own bodies by the end of the fourth month. By the way, in Australia, Aboriginal people who enter civilization often become diabetic, but if they return to their tribe, their diabetes disappears. Doctors there write and publish books and try to track their diet to find the connection. They are wrong: those people simply lack water. In other words, they pull a root from the ground, shake it off, and eat it, thereby obtaining their MSM. When they come to the city, where everything is washed, steamed, and boiled, they become diabetic. It is that simple.
MSM for allergic reactions
MSM is no more toxic than water; you cannot overdose on it or harm yourself with it. It is the third-largest component of the organisms of all living beings. It constantly leaves through your pores, just like salt. MSM removes harmful substances and foreign proteins from your body within three or four days, and your allergies disappear. It is constantly cleansing. The only problem occurs in people whose bodies are particularly contaminated, whose cells have been inelastic for so long that too many toxins have accumulated in them. When everything suddenly opens up and begins leaving all at once, a slight headache, muscle aches, and sometimes skin irritation may begin; this is caused by toxins being expelled from the body too quickly.
MSM for brain activity
Alzheimer's disease, or senile dementia, is actually nothing more than a buildup of poisonous metal deposits in the brain. Lithium, salts, and similar substances, as well as aluminum, get in there and settle across the nerves, so electrical signals cannot travel along the proper pathways, leaving you confused and unable to think “straight.” The blood-brain barrier has become rough and leathery; you do not receive nutrients through it, and toxins cannot get out.
Cleaning the blood vessels with MSM
Cholesterol is another thing people are very concerned about. Oil melts at room temperature. When you eat it, it melts inside your body, enters the blood vessels and cells, and then comes back out. If the vessels are rough, it gets stuck inside like a trap. It accumulates until you develop a serious problem, while your body tries little by little to get rid of it.
The condition of Dr. Burgeson's secretary's husband was so bad that when he went to the doctor, the doctor said, “Let's get $5,000.” He was going to insert a special balloon into his veins to push all this fat aside—not remove it, just move it out of the way so the blood could flow. Then they calculated another $15,000 to do the same on the other side and restore circulation in his legs. Dr. Burgeson prescribed a course of MSM and vitamin C, and eight months later he came back, and his cholesterol level was below average.
I love cheese hot dogs and shashlik, and just yesterday I had dinner at a Mexican restaurant with all its fatty cuisine. My cholesterol level has been below average every time for the past three years.
Your body cleans everything out and gets rid of it, so you do not develop this problem. Yes, your body works properly; it is simply that your blood vessels and tissues have become rough and leathery and do not let everything pass through, so it settles inside you.
