Why is the path of devotion unique for every devotee, and how should we relate to the experiences of others on this path of love? Bhagawan lovingly explains this to us today.
The path of devotion cannot be defined and confined as such. Since it has many forms, paths, and types of experience, no one can describe it fully and precisely. Each devotee attains bliss only through their own individual experience. At best, the experiences of other devotees can provide a person with support and guidance. The limited soul is immersed in the Lord’s limitless love, and how can words describe the experience that the Upanishads call an uninterrupted stream of sweetness? It is impossible to express this state of limitless devotion in human language. From the outward signs that can be perceived by the senses, one may feel that a devotee is in a state of supreme bliss, but who can measure the depth of that joy? It has nothing whatsoever to do with the senses. Devotion must be known only through personal
experience, although great souls may illuminate your path somewhat through their examples. With their help, you may grasp something along the way, but always remember that words fail when they approach the Transcendent.
Chapter 9, Prashanti Vahini.
The primary quality of devotion is the yearning to realise unity with the Divine.
