Day 1 · Awakening the Gaze
⠀
Have you noticed how a person’s eyes change when they look at someone they love? Their facial features remain the same, but it is as if a light appears that was not there a moment ago.
⠀
In my “Eyes of Love” practice, I invite you to explore this state. Over the course of three days, we will learn to awaken it, recognize it, and gradually bring it into everyday life.
⠀
Today we will begin with the simplest thing — feeling how love changes our gaze. Set aside a few quiet minutes.
⠀
⠀
Think of someone you sincerely love. It may be a loved one, a beloved animal, a Saint, or something beautiful that awakens tenderness in you.
⠀
You may look at a photograph or simply imagine this image.
⠀
Let it be a love in which you wish someone well and ask for nothing in return. Do not rush. Let the feeling unfold.
⠀
⠀
While holding on to this feeling, turn your attention to your eyes.
⠀
What has changed in them? Perhaps your gaze has become softer, tension has faded, your eyelids feel different, or a barely noticeable smile has appeared.
⠀
You do not need a mirror. Observe the sensations from within. Do not try to deliberately change your facial expression — allow it to change along with your state.
⠀
⠀
Stay for a little while in the state that has arisen. Notice howthe feeling of love and your gaze.
⠀
In the spiritual sense of this practice, the eyes become conduits of the Soul’s love. That is why it is important to remember the entire inner process: what you turned your attention to, what feeling arose, and how it resonated in your eyes.
⠀
If you have not noticed any changes yet, do not force yourself. You can calmly repeat the practice later. There is no need to pretend that you achieved a result here.
⠀
⠀
On the second day, we will try to preserve this gaze while turning our attention to the world around us.
