Once again, I’m amazed by how much our subconscious and our bodies tell us.
It turns out I’ve intuitively been doing this practice all my life—just alternately with each hand. When people saw me in this position, they would ask whether it was comfortable. I always said that I felt very good that way and was resting, and that it helped me relax. This practice is such a natural part of my life that I didn’t even perceive it as a practice, but rather as some kind of quirk of mine
And my massage teacher said that it was simply shortened muscles, and that this was how the body relieved tension. I believed her to some extent at first, but only until OM Shanti presented this practice
How many other things do we do intuitively and take for granted
Hello everyone!
Namaste, OM Shanti!
For many years, relaxation was an area I hadn’t worked through. It was quite difficult. And this was despite the fact that twenty years ago I had already started following a specific healing system, which included switching to a vegetarian diet (under the same conditions as in Ediniya), performing exercises under guidance—many of them well-known Hatha Yoga asanas—and practicing breath retention.
Our group trained early in the morning. We came to the stadium at around 5:45; it was important to run before 6 a.m., and then we trained in the hall.
We performed exercises under the guidance of the person who trained, led, and taught us.
There was a lot of stretching. At 25, I was as stiff as a board, but after a year and a half I managed to do the splits. When the stretch became very intense, we had to release the tension in the splits by relaxing the cheeks and points of support. This was difficult for me—relaxation itself.
After doing the exercise, we would lie down and try to relax. Even then, I was far from always able to relax completely.
In the following years, I continued doing some of the exercises. Relaxation was still not going very well.
That is why I hope this practice will help me learn to relax more deeply.
OM Shanti, what should I do if my arms stay up for more than 10 minutes and simply don’t want to come down on their own? I still have to make an effort, but as I understand it, that isn’t quite right.
I continue practicing the deep relaxation practice every day (and sometimes twice a day, in the morning and evening—but not before bed: by then I only have time to think about the practice before immediately falling asleep )
What results have I seen after two weeks of practicing it?
First, my arms now always lower together, in sync, rather than one at a time as before. And for some reason, they always lower behind my head, although for some reason I cannot explain, I would prefer them to lower alongside my body. But during the practice I try to consciously relinquish control of my arms, and they always lower behind my head, against my wishes
Second, my arms have started lowering very quickly! Sometimes I do not even manage to count to five before they are already down! This may seem fantastic to some practitioners, but personally, what seems fantastic to me is how one can keep their arms raised for 40–50 minutes without them lowering Because the relaxation mechanism starts so quickly, I sometimes feel as though the process has not begun, but it has—the sensations in my body still appear, simultaneously in my head, feet, and throughout my body.
Third, I have had a couple of interesting experiences during this time. One day, my lower back suddenly started hurting badly (which was strange, since I do not think I had been carrying anything heavy). I massaged the painful point. That helped only partially, but somehow I knew that I would sleep and everything would pass. Indeed, after sleeping, I no longer felt any pain in my lower back. I began doing the relaxation practice as usual. The familiar sensations of relaxation appeared in my body. But suddenly, a sharp pain pricked the lower-back area, shot quickly along my spine like an impulse, and immediately disappeared. It looked like a spasm being released through a pain response. A final farewell, so to speak When I got up, there was no pain, and it has not returned so far.
More or less the same thing happened another day, but not with my lower back. That day, I developed a severe headache for cyclical reasons related to the female body. I knew there was not really anything I could do about this pain—only reduce it somewhat through practices and simply endure it until the next day. The practices and KEY sessions helped, and the pain decreased, but you cannot fight nature, and the feeling of spasm and tension in my head, neck, and shoulders remained. By night, I started to feel better and went to sleep. In the morning, as expected, everything had passed, and my head no longer hurt. But when I began the relaxation practice and the bodily sensations started, a painful impulse suddenly rushed through my neck, from my head toward my shoulders (exactly as with my lower back at the time) and immediately disappeared. In short, I realized that if something in the body had been hurting badly beforehand, the relaxation practice can also manifest itself through these quick painful impulses. But afterward, the pain does not return.
Namaste!
I’ve been trying to practice every day ever since I discovered it.
The first few times, I held my hands up for such a long time—about 40 minutes, I think.
They stayed up quite a long time on the following occasions as well. I’m trying to feel the moment when they lower by themselves, although sometimes it seems to me that I start the lowering process myself. They descend slowly and settle very far apart, and at the moment they finally lower, I have this feeling as if I’m “climbing out of a little bag”)
Then there’s an incredibly pleasant tingling and vibration in my hands, along with even deeper relaxation.
I understand that this practice is exactly what I need right now, so I’ll continue!
Thank you for it!
I’m reading the reviews of the Deep Relaxation practice—it’s really intriguing: what is it, and could it really help?
There’s stress at work (having to get things done, complete tasks, convince people, give directions, fix things, make calls—anything just to keep up). And there’s stress at home too: how is my son, how is he doing at work, it’s already late and my daughter still isn’t home—what if something happens? I understand that they’re adults, yet I’m constantly worried; sometimes it feels as though my heart is pounding in my throat. Through the Moscow Longevity Club, I received an invitation to free courses on managing psycho-emotional states. Interesting, useful—what luck! I’ll go, learn, and calm down. Unfortunately, though, it didn’t work out.
They put a neuro-headset on your head, attach a sensor to your ear, and give you headphones. Your psycho-emotional state is tested before and after the meditation session, and there it is—the truth of life: after the session, the stress level increases, and the level of self-control increases. I understand why this happens, but I can’t do anything about it. On the way there, I worry about not being late and finding a parking spot. During the session, I try to follow the voice’s instructions and relax, but at some point—oh, I forgot to make another work call and I didn’t do something else, and so on. Then I catch myself and say, “That’s it, I’m not thinking about work,” and realize I didn’t hear which part of my body was being relaxed or how we were breathing. I try to switch off my thoughts—I really do (the room is dim, with a pleasant, calm voice in the headphones). The thoughts go away, but sleepiness arrives. Now I’m fighting sleep, and as a result, the test shows that my stress level increases.
How can I relax and calm down?
I have always tried to live without straining myself, without fuss or rushing around. But situations can vary. I do not like invented, imaginary fears that in fact make no sense, but sometimes real trouble comes, and then stress is unavoidable. And even though I have various ways of eliminating stress and use them, its aftereffects have still remained. At the moment, I am troubled by the fact that periodically, when I am falling asleep, I suddenly perceive the darkness behind my closed eyes as a restriction and want to open my eyes, even though I am already almost asleep and really want to sleep. But because of this feeling, I cannot keep my eyes closed; I have to practice something to distract myself and fall asleep unnoticed. It is strange, because I have had abilities since childhood and know what communication with the subtle world, astral projection, and much more are like, where silence in the head and darkness before the eyes are conditions for leaving the body. But now I suddenly have these periodic reactions. Sometimes I also wake up at night and feel as though I cannot get enough air; the room is stuffy, and it feels as though my soul has suddenly returned to my body, which is strange as well. I think these are all consequences of stress, because practically every practice is done with closed eyes and I have never experienced any discomfort, but now it is simply falling asleep that causes such a strange reaction. I can also see past lives, and when falling asleep and feeling anxious, I can recall lives in which I was locked in dark, confined spaces or buried under earth in trenches, and so on, although I periodically remove these charges; somehow, all the effects of the stress I experienced have become aggravated. And to calm down, I need silence in my head and closed eyes, but now it turns out that I cannot do precisely that.

Greetings, everyone! I seem to relax, but not completely; some areas remain that I cannot encompass. My sleep is superficial and does not provide complete rest. Recently, I experienced a panic attack for the first time and understood what it was like on a physical level: tension appeared in the abdominal area, activating fear. Tension and fear were often activated while I was eating, and I started eating very little and lost a great deal of weight. My blood pressure began to fluctuate; in general, my body became imbalanced. I used the Hasaya Aliyev Key method and received his help. It helped me return to a normal state, which I am maintaining now, but I constantly feel the tension in my abdomen, like some foreign formation, a point—a trigger. It does not become activated because I do not fight it; I observe it, but it does not go away either. It keeps me on alert. I want to learn to relax this area as well.
I have been practicing relaxation for a long time, since my school years. The first thing I mastered was Shavasana. In Your Yoga, I encountered this practice in the Shantaram Ashram, and it amazed me with its depth. I often practice it.
I learned a very effective practice from a self-published guide, Autogenic Training. The relaxation technique is described there in great detail. The first step is working with the face and facial muscles, using relaxation formulas that affect the relaxation of the entire body. Then come the relaxation of the arms, legs, and the body itself. The second stage is warming, following the same pattern; then formulas of heaviness are applied, a sense of gravity, and finally we let go of everything and dissolve. The effect varies. Sometimes there are no sensations: the body has dissolved, leaving only the naked mind—a breathtaking state.
I gained extensive experience in the 1990s while practicing Transcendental Meditation, and I still practice it today in various forms. They produce a state of deep relaxation, among many other effects.
For the last 10 years, I have followed Your Yoga. Here, every practice is infused with relaxation. The more relaxed you are, the more effectively a particular practice or training proceeds. Meditation at a Distance is a very good relaxation practice; it provides a detailed relaxation text, and at the end of each practice there is also Ocean Breathing. Through this practice, you gain experience of existing in an aquatic environment.
I have had wonderful experiences with Alpha music; almost all Your Yoga practices are connected with relaxation. In my view, relaxation is an essential condition for any practice. It frees us from stress, bringing all the bodies of our being to a state of “0”: our body, emotions, and thoughts are reset and become completely ready for a new experience.
From this state, starting with a clean slate, I gain a new, 100-percent experience of a particular practice. I am looking for the most effective practice of relaxing all the way to zero. This requires new experience and the exploration of new sensations of bliss. The soul demands it; it strives toward its source. This is its true movement toward love.
Thank you, Om Shanti, for the profound relaxation. I would like to express my gratitude for this effective method.
Early this morning I came home from work and the first thing I did was try the profound relaxation method. I lay down and practiced it. The entire practice went very easily; my body completely dissolved, and after 7 minutes I entered a state of deep sleep. I slept like that for an hour and a half until a phone call and my daughter woke me up. I shared the practice with her—she is familiar with it—and then practiced profound relaxation again. After a minute, or even less, I was already watching cartoons in my sleep. I spent 3 hours in profound relaxation.
I got up feeling refreshed and renewed, with bright thoughts—or perhaps there were no thoughts at all. I cannot yet fully assess the state of my bodies, but the fact that these are new feelings and a renewal is undeniable.
The first thing that impressed me was how accessible it is to practice: it could not be simpler. In fact, you do nothing; everything works automatically.
Second, you enter an altered state of consciousness quickly—just 3–7 minutes, and everything is relaxed to a profound level; there is no other way to describe it.
Third, the result after relaxation: renewed thoughts and freshness in the body. A complete reboot of all the bodies and all the chakras. You write
One could say that this is a state different from sleep itself, or that it is a profound state of relaxation.
I mean the level of consciousness that the practitioner enters during profound relaxation.
I will practice this every day, morning and evening; it is changing me. I recommend it to everyone based on my own experience with relaxation.
It quickly, deeply, and effectively relieves stress.
Namaste, everyone! I really want a practice of this kind, first of all because about a year ago I began experiencing sleep disturbances—this is the primary problem, and it was very unexpected and difficult for me. I never thought it would happen to me. The second reason is psychosomatics. At the moment, I cope with it well thanks to qigong practices, but an additional tool is never unnecessary.

Precisely when I try to fall asleep, I cannot relax properly; there is a great deal of tension in my neck, which also affects my head. I also notice that sometimes I have чужая energy inside me that has not been digested or eliminated. It remains on deep levels and, like a wandering current, makes itself known in various ways. I also suspect that my sleep problem is connected with age-related changes in the female body. In short, I really want this practice! )
108Hz, Hanpan Music 1111Hz, Hemi-Sync: Cartnaper, Dolphin).
